Not wanting to duplicate the hundreds of excellent health and support resources already in existence, we scanned the Internet to see what was out there—and what was not—for Canadian women affected by breast cancer. We conducted workshops involving patients, breast cancer organizations and health care professionals. We surveyed members of the breast cancer community. And this is what they told us.

They want
* a website that is easy to use.
* assurance that the people driving the content of the site are knowledgeable and some have been through it.
* a “chaperone” to sift through, categorize and provide a road map through the vast number of excellent resources already available.
* a website that can tailor the resources, finding those that are specific to your needs.
They also want to be able to
* easily find the information and support you need, as much as you need, when you need it.
* be part of a community where you can find comfort and strength in numbers and know that you are not alone.
* give back and help others.
The SharingStrength | FortesEnsemble Team and the Advisory Committee made up of patient advocates, health care professionals and representatives of health care organizations and government agencies from across the country set to creating a bilingual website for Canadian women whose lives are touched by breast cancer—a portal to reliable health resources and breast cancer organizations and a place for a vibrant community of women to support one another.
